Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 21, 2026

Location data: our application “Antenas de Celular” / “Cell Tower Map” (cl.birdie.antenas) accesses, collects and uses the device’s precise and approximate location (GPS) to show nearby mobile phone towers on the map and, optionally, to record a signal coverage heatmap or contribute to a collective coverage map. Details are in the 1. Location data section.

This Privacy Policy describes how the applications developed by Birdie (https://www.birdie.cl) —in particular “Antenas de Celular”— access, collect, use, store, protect and share user data. For applications that offer Google sign-in, it also describes the handling of Google data obtained through OAuth 2.0, in compliance with the Google API Services User Data Policy.

1. Location data (the “Antenas de Celular” app)

The “Antenas de Celular” app (cl.birdie.antenas) accesses and collects the device location (precise and approximate, via GPS). Location is requested through the operating system’s location permission, which the user can grant or revoke at any time. It is used for the following:

  • Map and nearby towers: your location is used to center the map on your position and to look up the nearest mobile phone towers. To do this, the coordinates are sent over an encrypted connection (HTTPS) to our server (antenas-api.birdie.cl) for the sole purpose of returning nearby results; they are not stored tied to your identity.
  • Signal measurement and coverage heatmap (optional feature): if you enable this feature, the app records location points together with the cellular signal strength. This data is stored only on your device, in a local database; it is never transmitted or shared with anyone, it is kept for at most 90 days, and you can delete it at any time from within the feature’s screen. If you choose to record coverage in the background (with the screen off), the app warns you beforehand and shows a persistent notification while it does so.
  • Collective coverage map contribution (optional feature, different from the heatmap): if you turn on “Contribute to the coverage map” (off by default), the app sends measurements of your approximate location together with mobile-network readings (cell identifier, carrier, signal strength and technology) and a timestamp to our server, linked to an anonymous identifier generated by the app on your device (not to your name). We use these measurements in aggregate to build a collective coverage map visible to all users and a contributor leaderboard that shows the nickname and country flag you choose (these are public). We do not display your individual measurements. If you sign in, you can optionally link your account to your contributions, only for reward features; your account identifier is never shown publicly. You can turn this contribution off and delete all your contributions at any time from that screen.

We do not sell your location, nor do we use it for advertising. “Antenas de Celular” does not require you to create an account or sign in with Google to work.

Advertising

Free versions display ads through Google AdMob, which may process device identifiers and approximate data under its own privacy policy; where required, the app asks for your consent and you can change your privacy choices at any time from the app settings.

2. Google account (only in apps with Google sign-in)

This section applies only to Birdie apps that offer Google sign-in. “Antenas de Celular” offers optional sign-in with Google, Apple or Microsoft, which is not required to use the app. When a user does sign in or connect their account through Google OAuth in an app that offers it, that app can access only the following Google data, according to the consent explicitly granted:

  • Basic Google profile information: email address, display name and profile picture (if available).
  • Unique Google account identifier (user ID).
  • OAuth access tokens needed to authenticate the session.

The applications do not access or read private content such as email (Gmail), Google Drive files, contacts or calendar.

3. Use of data

Data is used exclusively to provide each app’s features: showing towers and coverage based on your location; and, in apps with sign-in, authenticating the user and associating their preferences. Data is not used for commercial profiling or for any purpose other than those described.

4. Data sharing

  • Birdie does not sell, rent or share users’ personal data with third parties for commercial or advertising purposes.
  • Your location is only transmitted to our server (antenas-api.birdie.cl) to return nearby results; the coverage heatmap data never leaves your device.
  • If you enable the collective map (Section 1), your location and signal measurements are uploaded to our server and shown in aggregate to the whole community; you can delete them at any time from the app.
  • Strictly necessary technical providers (for example, hosting infrastructure or the ad provider Google AdMob) process data only to operate the service, under their own policies.

5. Data storage and protection

Data is protected with reasonable technical measures: encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS), access control and the principle of least privilege. Coverage data is stored locally on the device; OAuth tokens (in apps with sign-in) are stored securely.

6. Data retention and deletion

  • On-device coverage data is kept for at most 90 days and you can delete it at any time from the app.
  • Contributions to the collective map are stored on our server and you can delete them at any time with the “Delete my contributions” option on the “Contribute to the coverage map” screen.
  • In apps with an account, the user can request deletion of their account and associated data by writing to soporte@birdie.cl.

7. Revoking Google access (apps with sign-in)

In apps that use Google, the user can revoke access at any time from https://myaccount.google.com/permissions.

8. Changes to this policy

Birdie reserves the right to update this Privacy Policy. Any relevant change will be published on this same page.
